sharon-whiteWe are excited to announce that our very own nurse Sharon White has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Outstanding Service Category 2016 in the prestigious Wales Care Awards.

Sharon, our lead nurse has been with The Hollies care home in Pontypridd for 19 years and is one of our longest serving team members who is certainly adored by our residents and colleagues.

Sharon said: “I’m very honoured and a bit gobsmacked to be shortlisted for the Wales Care Award. It’s an exciting time for me and the home.

“I lost my own mum and dad some years ago so I think it’s great to have people in their 80s and 90s living with us.
“When you talk to them they have some great memories and stories to tell, and that’s one of my favourite things about the job.  I’m in charge of a team of six nurses but I’m not an office person and like to be down on the nursing floor as much as possible.
“I also work on special activities for the residents with dementia like the ‘Butterfly’ project
which encourages them to bring in familiar things from home.

Bikam Choudhary, our chief executive said: “We are enormously proud of Sharon and she deserves
to have been shortlisted for the prestigious title.”

The award ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 21 at City Hall in Cardiff and is being organised by Care Forum Wales.   Everyone here wishes Sharon all the luck in the world with the award!
