Description

To ensure that all aspects of the home are kept safe and well – maintained for residents, team members and visitors, and they comply with internal and external standard and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that the home is kept secure
• Ensure that all minor repairs are fixed in a timely manner
• Ensure that the decoration of the home is to the highest standard and snagging items dealt with in a timely manner
• Ensure that all electrical equipment is visually and systematically checked on an annual basis, and that residents appliances are visually checked and recorded appropriately
• Ensure that the plant room is regularly maintained and checked in line with standards
• Ensure that the refuse area is clean and well maintained and that clinical waste is removed appropriately
• Ensure that the external areas are clean, tidy and well maintained
• Responsible for working within legislator frameworks such as: Health and Safety, COSHH, Health and Social Care Act and Environmental Health, thus ensuring that residents and the team have a safe environment
• Manage maintenance to minimise infections
• Ensure that the requirements from audits are dealt with within the timescales required
• Deal with emergencies as appropriate in the home, including out of hours
• Build relationships with residents
• Investigate and act with integrity upon shortfalls in service, to ensure we are open, honest and transparent at all times
• Oversee external work and contractors and manage accordingly
• Ensure effective management of drainage system
• Practice safe system of work across the range of tasks and in particularly moving and handling of loads, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of the residents, visitors and staff
• Carry out all appropriate checks and record the as per SilverCrest standards

Requirements

• Relevant building maintenance experience
• A sound understanding of the main Health and safety Regulations, including COSHH and Risk Assessment

Experience

• Ideally worked within a healthcare environment
• Minimum of two years in maintenance role
• Proven track record in similar role
• Managing external contractors

Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications

• Excellent leadership skills
• Knowledge of and competence in building maintenance
