Description

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Operative to ensure our home remains safe and well-maintained for residents, team members, and visitors. The ideal candidate will ensure all facilities comply with internal standards, external regulations, and Health & Safety requirements.

The working hours will be Monday - Friday 8am - 16:00pm

This is a fixed term of 6 months with potential for extension of a further 6 months

Key Responsibilities

Main duties will include:

  • Ensuring that the home is kept secure
  • Ensure that all minor repairs are fixed in a timely manner
  • Maintaining the decoration of the home to the highest standard, and any snagging items dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assuring that all electrical equipment is PAT test checked on an annual basis, and that residents’ appliances are visually checked and recorded appropriately
  • Securing the plant room, tool stores, and sheds, and ensuring that they are regularly maintained and kept clean, tidy and organized
  • Ensure that the refuse area is clean and well maintained and that clinical waste is removed appropriately
  • Maintaining all external areas keeping them clean, tidy and well maintained
  • Responsible for working within legislator frameworks such as: Health and Safety, COSHH, Health and Social Care Act and Environmental Health, thus ensuring that residents and the team have a safe environment
  • Ensure that the requirements from audits and remedial action plans are dealt with within the timescales required
  • Support with emergencies as appropriate in the home, including out of hours and call outs.
  • Develop good relationships with residents
  • Investigate and act with integrity upon shortfalls in service, to ensure we are open, honest and transparent at all times
  • Oversee external work and contractors, and manage accordingly
  • Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks and in particularly moving and handling of loads, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of the residents, visitors and staff
  • Carry out all appropriate checks and record them as per Silvercrest standards
  • Carry out quality assurance reporting and budget management documents

Qualifications/Education

  • Relevant building maintenance experience
  • A basic understanding of the main Health and safety Regulations

Experience

  • Ideally worked within a healthcare environment
  • Minimum of one years in a maintenance role
  • Liaising with and managing external contractors

Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Knowledge and competence in building/DIY maintenance
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
