Reporting to the Home Manager this person will be responsible for supporting the Housekeeper and ensuring a high quality of service and cleaning standards are delivered in the home
As a kitchen assistant they will be reporting to the Head Chef/Chef and be part of the catering team to provide high quality of food and ensure the highest standards are achieved to meet the needs of the residents.
This role will be to provide relief for holidays and sickness for 16 hours a week and must be flexible for up to 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that cleaning duties are carried out in accordance to the cleaning schedule.
- Ensure team work is applied at all times to provide a clean and welcoming environment for the residents, guests and visitors.
- Maintain the highest standard of personal presentation and hygiene.
- Support the Head Housekeeper in reporting any defects or damage to furnishings within the home.
- Ensure that products being used have been specifically selected for the purpose.
- Carry out any reasonable instruction from the Head Housekeeper or Home Manager.
- Complete cleaning documentation in line with company policy.
- Ensure that infection control policies and universal precautions are followed at all times.
- Carry out deep cleaning in line with Silvercrest procedures.
- To actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values the individual and respects their dignity and communication differences.
- To respond in a timely way to residents who are distressed (calling out, calling for help, knocking or making noises that suggest the need for support) or seek assistance if you feel unable to respond appropriately.
- Ensure all health and safety requirements are being met and attend training as required.
- Ensure regulations and compliance are met and adhered to.
- Ensure equipment and environment is safe within the home.
- Ensure the safety data sheets and risk assessments for all chemicals that are used.
- You will be required for this role to potentially lift heavy objects.
KITCHEN ASSISTANT DUTIES
- Support the Head Chef/Chef to ensure the catering services and residential dining experience is of the highest standard and quality.
- Support the catering team in ensuring the nutritional content of the meals provided cater for the dietary needs of all residents.
- Ensure that all regulatory and statutory requirements are met and company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure that the cleaning schedules are maintained according to company policies and procedures.
- Attend all Health and Safety, food hygiene and COSSH training updates as required by the company to ensure that safe practices are adhered to at all times.
- Assist the Head Chef/Chef with meal service to the residents.
- Assist the Home Manager with providing refreshments for the residents and guests to the home.
- Ensure the public areas such as dining rooms and café are clean and stocked appropriately.
- Work with the Head Chef/Chef to ensure there is sufficient crockery, cutlery and glassware in the home.
- To actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values the individual and respects their dignity and communication differences.
