Description
The successful candidate will ensure that all aspects of the homes are kept safe and well – maintained for residents, team members and visitors, and they comply with internal and external standard and regulations.
As part of the reporting to the Regional Maintenance Manager, the Deputy Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Maintenance compliance documentation is up to date and any other maintenance work is conducted and completed in line with recommendations from the other Regional Managers within all our homes.
The Deputy Maintenance Manager will be working closely with the Maintenance Team, Home Managers and other Regional Managers within the Silver Crest Group.
The Deputy Maintenance manager will require from time to time to attend and ensure maintenance compliance and other maintenance work is up to date and complete through other associated sites in connection with Silvercrest with assistance from the Regional Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that the homes and associated sites are kept secure
- Ensure maintenance operatives of each home are conducting the required actions
- Ensure maintenance operatives of each home are conducting and recording checks
- Complete supervisions with the maintenance team with assistance from the Regional Maintenance Manager
- Ensure that all electrical equipment is visually and systematically checked on an annual basis, and that residents’ appliances are visually checked and recorded appropriately (PAT)
- Responsible for working within legislator frameworks such as: Health and Safety, COSHH, Health and Social Care Act and Environmental Health, thus ensuring that residents and the team have a safe environment
- Manage maintenance to minimize infections
- Ensure that the requirements from audits and inspections are dealt with within the timescales required
- Deal with emergencies as appropriate in the care homes, including out of hours
- Investigate and act with integrity upon shortfalls in service, to ensure we are open, honest and transparent at all times
- Ensure that the decoration of the homes is to the highest standard and snagging items dealt with in a timely manner
- Ensure that the plant room, tool stores and sheds are regularly maintained and kept tidy and organized
- Ensure that the external areas are clean, tidy and well maintained throughout the sites
- Oversee external work and contractors and manage accordingly
- Deliver the Annual Schedule of works for each site as agreed with the Regional Maintenance Manager. (MAP)
- Monthly inspection and audit of each site, plant equipment and systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company health and safety policy, reporting required any actions promptly to the Regional Maintenance Manager
- Completing and reviewing service maintenance throughout each site
- Keep accurate records of all completed works
- Attend Silvercrest management meetings when required
- Assisting and organizing with any projects or improvement works with the maintenance team throughout each site
- Ensure any company vehicle under your responsibility is maintained to a clean and tidy standard at all times
- Assist Regional Maintenance Manager with other related tasks
- Carry out any reasonable request from Senior management

Experience
- Proven track record in a care home environment delivering quality services (Desirable)
- Health & Safety knowledge in a busy working environment
- Proven track record leading, empowering, supporting and motivating a service team
- Maintenance compliance knowledge required for business
Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent written, non-verbal and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of and competence in Microsoft Office applications and Windows based operating environments – Excel, Word, Outlook, Explorer etc.
